Recalled from the furlough from Ransome Airlines, but came back as a Nord First Officer instead of the Dash 7 at a significant pay cut.

The Professional Air Traffic Controllers went on strike. On August 5th President Reagan fired the striking controllers which was devastating to the airlines, especially in the northeast US. On 8/10 I flew my last flight in the Dash 7 and was laid off. I also lost my 30 hour a week mechanic job with Ransome. Linda was scheduled to stop work this same week due to her pregnancy. Scary times financially...

Started flying the Ransome Airlines Dash 7. Completed checkride on 7/10 and IOE on 7/14.

Linda and I flew from JFK airport to Anchorage on a complimentary ticket from Korean Airlines. Flight was KAL007 which became famous in 1983 when it was shot down by the Russians. Dates are approximate (6/~7 to ~15?). Linda and I flew on Wein Air Alaska from ANC to Barrow and back to visit our friends Angelo and Amy Zollo. Angelo was a student of mine at Flight Safety.
