Introductory Flight in a Cessna 150

    11/14/1970 55 years ago

At age 15 I took my first Introductory Flight in a Cessna 150 at Baltimore's Friendship Airport and a few moments after takeoff I decided: THIS is what I want to do forever!

I've been very fortunate and grateful since that moment for the numerous tremendous experiences that flying has provided. As Charles Lindbergh said: "Science, freedom, beauty, adventure: what more could you ask of life? Aviation combined all the elements I loved."

    Band's first gig

Our band- "Smokestack Lightning" had its first paid event at Arnolia MYF. My Dad was the manager and we started working and rehearsing quite a bit. “Chicago” was the professional group we tried to emulate. A local group “The Huns Review” was our local inspiration. Band members from left to right: Tom “Fuzzy” McCormick, George Chiles, Richard Starsonek, me, Bill Johnson, Vince Presti, Ed Kernan, Mike Frentz. (Photo was taken on a different date.)
